InterClass for parents
InterClass lets you message your child at any time, and gives them a school-supervised way to talk with friends during lunch. You link to your child once, confirm consent, and that's it.
How to link to your child
- Create a parent account on your phone and choose your child's school.
- Ask your child for their parent code. They find it in the Parents tab of InterClass by tapping Reveal code.
- Enter your child's school email and the code, then read and confirm consent. You can message your child straight away.
What you can and can't see
- You can see and send messages in your own conversation with your child.
- You can't see your child's conversations with other students.
- Messaging with friends stays off until you've confirmed consent.
How your child's messaging is limited
- Friends only: a friendship starts once both students accept.
- Only during the lunch and brunch windows the school sets.
- Text only, one-to-one. No links, photos, videos, files or group chats.
- Messages with inappropriate language are blocked before they send.
Questions parents ask
Can I read my child's chats with their friends?
No. You can see and send messages in your own conversation with your child, but not their conversations with other students.
Does my child need my consent to message friends?
Yes. Messaging with friends stays off for a student until a parent or guardian has linked to their account and confirmed consent.
When can my child message friends?
Only during the lunch and brunch windows their school sets. Your own messages with your child are not limited to those windows.
